Check your block before you plan

  • renovate or extend
  • landscape.

Find out how much space to leave

1.5 metres around poles, meters, mini pillars and substations. Building too close to poles and powerlines can be dangerous.
Never build over or restrict access to gas, water or electricity meters. Never build structures, retaining walls or plant trees over electricity cables, sewers, water mains or gas pipes.
  • The distance varies for powerlines, sewers and water mains. Lodge an online enquiry form or call ActewAGL on 6248 3555 between 8.30am and 5.00pm.

Why is it important?

  • Damaging or interfering with underground pipes or cables could be expensive and dangerous.
  • Structures that block access may need to be removed.
  • So maintenance and meter reading can be carried out.
